Who is the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Commission?
The Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Commission (“the Commission”) is the independent statutory authority established under the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Act, 2021 to regulate gambling (gaming and betting) activities in Trinidad and Tobago, with the exception of the National Lottery.
The Commission is responsible for preparing for and overseeing the implementation of the regulatory framework established under the Act. This includes developing licensing and regulatory systems, establishing compliance and enforcement frameworks, promoting responsible gambling, and supporting the integrity, fairness and transparency of the gambling sector.
As additional provisions of the Act are proclaimed, the Commission will progressively assume its full regulatory functions, including the licensing, regulation and oversight of gambling activities in accordance with the Act.

Operationalisation of the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Act, 2021
The Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Act, 2021 establishes the legislative framework for the regulation of gambling activities in Trinidad and Tobago.
At present, Parts I (Preliminary), II (The Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Commission) and X (Miscellaneous) of the Act have been proclaimed and are in force. These provisions establish the Commission as the national regulator of gambling and provide the legal framework necessary for its governance, administration and supporting functions.
The remaining provisions of the Act, including those governing the licensing, regulation, compliance and enforcement of gambling activities, have not yet been proclaimed. The Commission is therefore undertaking the operational work necessary to support their commencement.
This website will continue to serve as the Commission’s official source for information regarding the phased implementation of the Act. As additional provisions are proclaimed, updated guidance, regulatory requirements, licensing information and public notices will be published to assist operators, stakeholders and members of the public.
